Drinking Water Project Filtration Plant and Water Network The construction of the filtration plant is nearing completion and its commissioning will take place in the next month. During this commissioning, pressure variations will occur in the water network and it is possible that deposits in the pipes will break free and cause increased turbidity. To rectify this situation, please let your outside hose (preferably) or your faucets flow for a few minutes. Unless advised to the contrary, the quality of your water remains safe. For citizens of the western sector (see map), the pressure of the water service will increase by about 40 lbs. Houses which have an old or fragile plumbing system should foresee the installation of a pressure reducing valve. This equipment can be installed on your water intake by a plumber. In addition to the treatment plant coming on line, an intensive pipeline flushing program will be carried out in early spring of 2010. To take full advantage of the new water quality, we recommend that you perform maintenance on your plumbing systems (water heater, toilet tank, etc.) in order to get rid of all iron and manganese deposits in your system.
