Water Consumption
“Mechanical Watering”: Between
8:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m.

“Non residential properties in commercial zones”:
Between 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. (except for automated sprinkling systems)
Vegetables, Flowers and Lawns:
Watering, with a hose or other device, that is held by the person during the
whole watering process is permitted at all times.
The washing of cars and watering of lawns :
Washing of cars and watering of lawns is permitted at all times, providing
an automatic closing nozzle and only the strictest amount of water needed are
used.
At no time must the water stream onto the road or neighboring properties.

Dogs
Roaming is prohibited and, while in public places, dogs must be kept on a leash
at all times. The owner/guardian must pick up the faeces of their dog on all private/public
properties other than on their own.

Pesticides
The spreading and use of pesticides is prohibited. In cases of infestation, a
permit must be obtained from the Planning Dept. |

Burning
Exterior fires*, including barrel fires and exterior fireplaces, are permitted
subject to being held at the rear of individual properties and not near the street.
They must be supervised at all times to produce as little smoke as possible and
to prevent the smoke from going towards neighbouring houses.
*A permit must be authorized by the Fire Department for any open-air fire exceeding
1 square meter in area and 1 square meter in height. |

Municipal right-of-way
The space between the boundary of your property and the road pavement is designated
« municipal right-of-way ». The maintenance and good order of this
municipal space are the responsibility of the frontage resident. It is also forbidden,
for security reasons, to place objects such as rocks, branches, etc. on this municipal
right-of-way. |

Fences and hedges
As a general rule, fences bordering streets shall not exceed 1½ m (5 ft)
in height. On all other sides, the height shall not exceed 2 m (6.5 ft). It is
important to verify with the Planning Dept. if it is necessary to obtain a permit.

Swimming pools
After obtaining a permit, swimming pools must be situated behind the front setback
of the main building. In ground pools must be surrounded by a fence. Entrance
gates to in ground pools shall have a self closing and self locking device ensuring
that the gates remain securely closed. |

Sheds etc.
A building permit is required for the installation of accessory buildings (sheds,
etc.). |

Trees
A permit, with no cost involved, is required to cut down trees of any species
having a diameter equal to or larger than 10 cm (4 in.), said diameter to be measured
at 15 cm (6 in.) from the ground. The penalty for cutting down a tree without
having obtained a permit is, for the first infraction, a minimum of $300.00 per
tree. |

Septic systems
Septic systems must be emptied at least every two years. |

Noise
It is prohibited to make or tolerate an excessive and unusual noise likely to
disrupt the peace and tranquility of the neighbourhood. It is also prohibited
to cause noise while proceeding with construction, demolition or repairs or to
use a lawn mover or chainsaw except during the following times:
7:00am to 9:00pm on Mondays to Fridays
8:00am to 5:00pm on Saturdays
10:00am to 5:00pm on Sundays |

Garage sales
Garage sales are permitted at the rate of one per year following issuance of a
permit in the amount of $20. Only one sign not exceeding 0,37 sq.m (4 sq.ft.)
is permitted on the site of the sale. Directional signs are prohibited. |

Garbage
Garbage should be in air tight containers, approximately 2 meters or less from
the paved surface of the street.

Recycling
The bins should be placed a maximum of 2 meters or less from the paved surface
of the street and positioned with the recycling logo facing the street (wheels
facing towards the house).

Garbage collection is every Monday and Thursday. Recycling is picked up on Wednesdays.

Civic numbers
Civic numbers, visible from the street, are compulsory. They are imperative for
emergency vehicles such as Fire Department vehicles, Ambulances, Police vehicles.
For your safety, make sure that you are well identified. |

Leaves
Leaves will be picked-up every Friday, by the regular garbage contractor, from
mid-October to mid-November, weather permitting (contact 450-458-0222 for info).
We ask citizens to put their leaves in containers such as boxes or tied bags.Please
note that containers will not be returned. |

Winter shelters (Tempo)
Shelters are permitted only from the 15th of October to the 15th of April. They
may not be installed or partly installed on public property. |

Snow in street
Citizens and contractors are not permitted to throw snow or ice onto public places,
namely streets and around fire hydrants. |

Winter parking
It is prohibited to park a vehicle on a public street, between 12:00pm and 7:00am,
from November 1st to April 15th. |

Snowmobiles
It is prohibited to circulate with an all-terrain vehicle or any other means of
motorized transport such as a snowmobile in the parks and public places, such
as nature trails of the Town. |
